Refill Instructions for Refilling C8721, C8771, 02 HP Cartridges

PLEASE NOTE: If you have tried printing with your cartridge completely out of ink, you may have damaged the printhead. Inkjet printers work by heating a resistor inside the printhead which heats the ink before it is sprayed onto the paper. If there is no ink to keep the resistors cool, you stand the chance of frying them.

Always refill before you are completely out of ink.

Best results are found when refilling the empty cartridge is done after the printer and/or computer displays a prompt that indicates your cartridge is empty...........If the refilling is done before the cartridge is completely empty, the printer and/or computer will prompt you that the cartridge is empty before it actually is...........If this happens, reinstallation will be required.

Instructions:
Important: Wear old clothes and work over newspapers or paper towels.

Refilling:
1. Set the ink tank on a paper towel. Drill a hole in the dimple located just below the HP logo. Be VERY careful not to allow plastic shavings to enter the ink tank.
2. Attach the needle on to the syringe and draw some ink into it. Insert the needle into the hole you have drilled and SLOWLY inject the black cartridge with 12 ml of ink or the color cartridge with 6 ml.
3. Being careful not to tip the tank, wipe off any ink that may have spilled around the fill hole or any other part of the tank, along with any plastic shavings from the drilling.
4. Seal the hole with a piece of aluminum tape.

Reinstalling:
1. Open the lid to your printer.
2. Place your refilled tank into the cradle that corresponds with the color of the tank.
3. Close the lid to your printer.
4. A prompt will then display on your printer screen saying "Original HP Ink Depleted".
5. On your printer will be a circle of buttons with "OK" in the middle and arrow keys. Press the right arrow key.
6. A prompt will then display on your printer screen saying "Attention".
7. Press the "OK" button on your printer.

NOTE: The ink levels will not show on the screen. However, once the volume of ink has been depleted from the replaced tank, the printer will not allow you to print any further until the tank has been refilled again.

A Refill Kit should include Ink plus the following:
1 Syringe/Blunt Needle per color
Aluminum Tape
Drill Tool
